Egret-TEN V2 vs Egret-TEN what’s new?

The EGRET-TEN V2 is the latest model from Egret but what are the differences to the predecessor EGRET-TEN?  We compare both scooters to give you a detailed overview. Of course, the two look very similar to the usual elegant design and the 10 ” pneumatic tires. So let’s take a closer look!

 

Engine power

The new geared motor of the EGRET-TEN V2 has an even higher torque than the engine of its predecessor. It accelerates much faster and slightly louder than the EGRET-TEN, the new model manages almost every gradient without manual assistance.

 

Range and speed

The EGRET-TEN V2 can now travel up to 42 km on one charge with a top speed of 30 km / h. The EGRET-TEN managed 35 km / h, but the maximum range is 35 km.

 

Handlebar and folding mechanism

The new handlebar construction of the EGRET-TEN V2 makes it easy to adjust and additionally optimizes stability. In addition, a bayonet lock in the folding mechanism as standard, this prevents the wrong folding and folding of the scooter by the user and locks the mechanism in its position.

 

Display and Throttle

The EGRET-TEN V2 is equipped with a compact display on the handlebar and a new integrated throttle grip. This model now has a thumb throttle grip so both brakes can be applied simultaneously while driving.

Five speeds limits can be adjusted with the new contoller. The mobile phone can also be charged via a USB port on the new display. The rear light can also be switched on and off directly from the display.

 

Kickstand

The EGRET-TEN V2 has a newly designed side stand, which now folds automatically. If the folding of the stand is forgotten, it automatically returns to its position. This increases safety and minimizes service cases.

 

Charger

The charger for the EGRET-TEN V2 is not technically different from its predecessor and is compatible. However, we have supplemented the three-pin connector with a fourth pole. This prevents the breaking off of the poles by the inaccurate insertion of the charging connector.

 

Battery

It uses the same 48V and 11.6AH battery on both EGRET-TEN models because it has proven itself over the years as a reliable source of POWER!!!

EGRET New e-Scooters Coming to UK

The New EGRET TEN V2

The Egret TEN, for those who don’t know it, is the “Mercedes” of electric scooters. It has all or almost all: Big wheels inflated in 10 inches for perfect comfort on any surface: with it, even the paving stones disappear. The sober elegance of the brand: A wide wooden stand board dyed on a structure in matt black aluminum alloy. An astonishing compactness for a scooter with large wheels, folded it hardly take more room than the Etwow Scooters.  A 42km range on one charge and a speed that can reach up to 35km/h. To take advantage of all these advantages, it is necessary to make a small concession to the portability with a weight of 17kg.

So what else you might ask?

The new version of the EGRET TEN V2 electric scooter will now feature two disc brakes, front and rear, the cherry on the cake, it is hydraulic at the rear for more precise braking, both more efficient and softer. The other advantage and not least of this type of brakes is that it no longer needs any adjustments. The New EGRET EIGHT

In its range, Egret has two 6-inch urban scooters and a 10-inch ultra-comfortable scooter. It is quite natural that the brand has decided to complete its offer with an 8-inch scooter so it comes to fight on the grounds of Inokim, Etwow … This intermediate version, the Egret Eight, comes with a front inflatable wheel, shock absorbers front and rear springs for comfort. In terms of features, the new urban electric scooter will have up to 30km of range (36V 8.7Ah) and a speed that will reach 28Km/h on a total weight of 14Kg. Braking will be similar to that of the Egret One GT with has two front and rear drum brakes. We find the large rear mud guard type Egret Ten with integrated lighting great in terms of comfort on rainy days. The display and throttle control will be identical to its big brother the EGRET TEN V2.

New E-Twow Booster Plus 2018

The E-twow electric scooter has it’s 5 years anniversary this year from the S1 series of scooters, then improved it to create the S2 model, now E-Twow took client’s suggestions and the latest legal provisions, and they present the S2 BOOSTER PLUS model!

The new BOOSTER PLUS is a new and improved version of the S2 Booster, which comes to make the E-twow rides even smoother and safer.

 

Here is a list of improvements coming with the new model:

New Controller:

The BOOSTER PLUS was designed around the new controller, which has an updated control unit that allows for the Booster Plus to accelerate smoother and braking stronger in a shorter distance. So, when the accelerator is pushed, no matter if it is pushed all the way, the acceleration will go slowly to the maximum speed, not sudden as the normal Booster. The maximum speed is still 30 km/h, the torque still 15 Nm. With a design modification, the new controller support solves the wire abrasion issue and allows for the controller to be easily mounted.

New Display:

The BOOSTER PLUS comes with a new type of display. The aesthetics and the software are updated. The display features a new colored appearance and the software allows the battery level to be more accurate. Also, the new display allows for the speed and cruise control settings to be easily set. (refer to manual enclosed).

New Rear Wheel:

The rear wheel of the BOOSTER PLUS is now more flexible, offering a better adherence and a smoother ride. It is airless but has multiple layers of rubber that allow for the wheel to be softer and stronger.

New Charging Port:

The BOOSTER PLUS comes with a new charger and an improved charging port, that is not only waterproof but also allows the charger to be inserted in a simpler and safer method protecting the charging pins.

Side and Rear Reflectors:

The BOOSTER PLUS features 4 side reflectors, 2 on each side and 2 at the back, easier to spot in traffic.

Thicker Platform:

The platform becomes thicker in order to accommodate the side reflectors.

New Motor Cable Tie:

The motor cables have a new binding system so that it looks better and also protects the cables from being damaged.

New Batteries for 2018:

Depending on riding style, route and range there are 3 options at the moment.

  • 33V 6.5Ah Booster Plus: It is the standalone battery inherited from the powerful Booster S2, perfect for riders from 60kg up to 80kg. Handle hills great and offers a long and trusted cycle life. Max speed 30kpm, total range *25km
  • 36V 7.5Ah Booster S: The extra capacity gives you 5km more range, *30km in total. Max speed 33kph but more voltage means more torque. Perfect for riders over 80kg or hilly commuting journeys.
  • 36V 10.5Ah Booster V: 5th-anniversary celebration, *38km range up to 38kph. maximum torque option for demanding routes.

Vodafone Germany partnership with Egret Scooters

Vodafone Germany announced a partnership with Egret Scooters by Walberg Urban Electrics to launch a connected scooter. The ElektroRoller2Go will target the vehicle sharing market, with the Vodafone Sim allowing users to locate a free scooter with a smartphone app. The foldable scooter is similar to an electric bike and able to travel up to 22 miles on a single charge.

Hub Motors Are Changing The Electric Skateboard Industry

The biggest thing in electric skateboards for 2016 is in-hub motors. Will Hub Motors Redefine The Electric Skateboard Industry Or Is It Just Another Fad?

First we need to break down the two different kinds of motors used for electric skateboards.

Pretty much every board currently on the market with the exception of a few cheap Chinese boards that are filtering in through Alibaba and eBay are all Belt-driven motors. Right now the defacto standard that all other boards are judged against is the Boosted 2000 Dual+ monster. This board has cracked the code and made something that is really fun to ride and still pretty safe. The board is relatively heavy and expensive but from everything I’ve read online, Boosted really stands behind their product. That might change in the future, but for now, they are the yardstick by which other electric skateboard companies are judged.

Advantages of Belt Driven Motors

  • You can get the gearing ratio perfect for your application : Every electric motor has a power range that the motor works best at, the trick is matching that optimum speed with the right sized skateboard wheel for that application (generally under 100mm for street use). Using a belt allows you to do just that.
  • The motor is slightly more sheltered from road debris as it can be moved up and away from the ground.

Disadvantages of Belt Driving Motors

  • You gotta replace the belts : Not that often but if you’re commuting with your eSkateboard every day for extended distances the belts will wear out. If your belt breaks on the road and it’s not a dual drive system then you’re going to be kicking it home.
  • You can’t push it : If the battery dies your board is not going to roll without a whole lot of friction. More than likely you’re going to bend over pick up your board and carry it the rest of the way.
  • On high power boards the motor is still open to the elements : On some of the lower power 24v boards the motor is completely sealed. Every ‘high power’ motors I’ve seen for electric skateboards are almost always open to the elements on one side. This creates the potential for water, debris and metal objects to find their way inside the motor which is going to suck.

 

Direct Drive electric skateboard motors

The more common electric motors that can be found on most of the more inexpensive electric skateboards in China are Direct Drive (DD) hubs. These motors are out runners (the wheel is what turns) and they have a 1:1 motor ratio. Every time the motor does one revolution, so does the wheel. The new Blink Board by Acton it’s the best example of transition from belt drive to DD Hub

Advantages of DD Hubs

  • Simplicity: The DD design is the simplest you’re going to find. Other than melting the windings or the insulation on the phase wires or overheating there is little you can do to destroy them. Since it is a outrunner there are no brushes to wear down meaning it should run well pretty much forever.
  • Nothing to wear out: No clutches, no gears, no pulleys. The only thing that can fail really is the bearings on the motor. The Manta drive shown above has some pretty beefy bearings on both sides of the wheel so that is pretty unlikely.
  • You can kick it : That’s right the DD design is the ONLY design that allows you to use your skateboard like a normal skateboard when your battery dies. A well designed DD motor will have very minimal cogging effect so it will have little resistance to being pushed.

Disadvantages of DD Hubs

  • Less power than a comparable Geared hub or a Belt drive: Since the geared hubs and the belt driven motors both get to spin a lot faster than the DD motor then you will need MORE watts to make the DD motor feel as powerful as a Geared or belt drive system.
  • Heat dissipation: Since the windings are inside the motor, it is hard for heat to work its way to the outside of the hub unless it has ventilation holes. Such a small motor doing so much work is going to get very hot. There is a chance that this will be an excellent application for ferrofluid cooling, but as far as I know, no one is doing that on a large-scale yet. If you have ventilation holes then you have to worry about water and debris getting inside your motor. Only the least powerful skateboards (less than 400W from China like this one) are sealed, everything else has massive air holes in it for cooling.
  • The Urethane wheel keeps the heat inside the motor.

It seems to me that the biggest problems that skateboard motors face is cooling. While having DD Hub motors might move the industry forward, they still haven’t solved this fundamental problem. What will the future hold for electric skateboards? All I know is that it is an exciting time and that even if the current batch of hub motors fail to live up to users expectations, they are still moving the industry forward in a good way.

Electric Vehicle Classifications & Limitations

RAKER is legally classified as a light electric motorcycle under EU Type Approval L1E. This class limits it,by law, to a maximum speed of 28mph and a motor of 4000W or less. This class requires RAKER, by law,to be registered with the DVLA, to display a licence plate, for the rider to be insured and to wear a DOT approved helmet at all times. A minimum licence consisting of a CBT is required to ride RAKER.

TRAYSER is legally classified as an Electric Pedal Assisted Cycle (EPAC) under EU Directive 2002/24/EC,and conform to EN 15194 specifications. This class limits it, by law, to a maximum speed of 15.5mph and a motor of 250W or less. This class requires TRAYSER, by law, to only be powered while the rider is actively peddling, though requires no registration, insurance, licence or helmet. Inmotion V3, The twin wheeled electric unicycle

InMotion V3 stands out from any other electric wheel simply because the learning process is much shorter and for most of the beginners will take just a couple of tries. Thick leather side panels make InMotion V3 one of the most comfortable wheels for both learners and advanced riders. It should also be noted that most people complain about quite painful learning on some of the other models currently available on the market, whereas InMotion V3 very well differentiates itself from this crowd.

The quality is unbelievable , sleek, with great features including a suit case style handle to wheel it along and not carry, and also on board speaker (V3) that are quite good sounding. It also speaks to you, says hello when turning on, warns you of over speeding, among other things. The voice is very clear.

Has a front and back light, which alternate in colour, so the front is white, but for backwards it turns red. The ride is somewhat different to a single wheel, sloping surfaces does require a differ approach to ride on, but you soon get to grips with it. Loads of power, and a silky smooth ride with little sound.

InMotion V3 promises to cover a distance of up to 14 kilometres on a single charge with the top speed reaching 18 kph. At a moderate pace a rider of 85 kg can manage to use it for up to 3 hours.

On an even surface InMotion V3 performs quite well, it is smooth, powerful and safe. Maneuverability is reduced because of the twin wheel design, however it is not that much of an issue as riders can compensate by having more stability when it comes to turning at slow speed.
